The Gholson Consulting Group, LLC provides licensed clinical social workers to individuals and families in need of counseling for a myriad of issues. We use the experience and credentials of the staff to support research, policy, counseling, and advocacy for youth and families dealing with mental health issues and crisis while supporting educational and child welfare advocacy in schools and communities. Using wraparound, strength-based therapies, and cognitive-behavioral work, we support clients across the lifespan. We specialize in trauma and violence, school-based issues, child welfare, and other life stressors.  We provide strategies for success and tools for self-reflection and self-advocacy.

EDUCATION SERVICES

 

We currently offer two cultural competency workshops that meets the IDFPR continuing education requirement. "Creating Safe Spaces in the Midst of Racial Turmoil" and "The Ripple Effect: Addressing Mental Health & Violence through a Culturally-Relevant, Strength-Based, Trauma-Informed Practice" are both three-hour workshops appropriate for school districts, police departments, and community agencies. We also provide customized course and workshop creation to target your intended audience.

We also facilitate individual and group supervision for social workers looking to obtain their LCSW as well as provide technical assistance for K-12 issues surrounding trauma, social-emotional learning, and family engagement.

Research & Policy Analysis Services

  

 

 

The Gholson Consulting Group, LLC is available to synthesize and translate complex education and social service issues into understandable language for general audiences to conceptualize and understand. Additionally, we offer ideas for the most pressing problems and debates surrounding these areas to assist decision-makers advocating for substantial change to legislation. We provide information and analysis on issues related to K-12 education including school violence, academic inequities, and discipline disparities. We are also well versed in social service issues including homelessness, teen pregnancy, the criminal justice system, and race and discrimination issues. Our current focus centers around mental health issues in the Black community and self-medication, stigma, the impact of violence in the communities, and the impact of trauma in education.
